A little over a year ago, if you would have told me I’d be working for a successful independent record label, I would have probably laughed out loud. I knew I wanted a career in the music industry, and me being only a year out of high school, I had no clear direction. I hadn’t the slightest idea what it meant to be a band manager, or how to successfully book a string of shows, but now I can proudly call myself a Booking and Management Representative at Independent Ear, Inc. I have somehow managed to be the first employee of a legacy in the independent music industry, and that feels pretty good.
It’s been no piece of cake, and I’ve often dreaded typing booking email after booking email for hours, but it is a dream come true. Ever since my first Warped Tour, I knew that I wanted to be part of that experience. The experience of music. The experience that heals the mind and soul. The experience that brings people together.
So with all of that, I would encourage anyone who takes a minute to read my little guest blog to really push for your dreams, to find something you love and never spend a minute wishing you hadn’t persuaded it to the fullest. And if music is one of those dreams, check out our internship opportunities. Who knows, maybe you could be the next employee to the Independent Ear Legacy.
