2017 was a breakout year for Adam Davenport, whose debut single "My Return Address is You," featuring Shanica Knowles, has ascended to #38 on the Billboard Dance chart, making him one of the first openly LGBT black artists to chart on Billboard. Accompanied by two remix EPs featuring Grammy-nominated StoneBridge, the Netherlands' rising star Jordan Jay, the Ukraine's Marat Leon and other top international DJ/producers, the unique collaboration has garnered praise from Dancing Astronaut, Entertainment Tonight's Liz Calvario and MetroSource Magazine, to name a few, as well as radio support on Sirius XM BPM, iHeartRadio and KIIS FM Brasil.

"The production is inspired by a bit of nostalgia," says Davenport, who co-wrote the song with Leslie Mills, an Emmy-nominated songwriter based in Nashville. "I wanted to bring elements of 80's dance-pop, underground disco and mellifluous vocal harmonies ala Fleetwood Mac onto a contemporary electro pop-dance track. I thought it might be fresh to have a folk guitar pre-chorus that segues into a Dutch house drop."

A graduate of Yale University, Davenport is a multi-hyphenate artist based in Brooklyn who began studying the piano when he was nine years old. He made his New York stage debut in Michael Bergmann’s 2015 production of the opera Bonfire of the Vanities and to date has performed at Carnegie Hall. He can be seen in the upcoming season of High Maintenance on HBO and recently became one of the first African-American actors to play Hercules in the musical feature Project Olympus, which was produced by music veterans David Kenneth Eng, Alex Ewen and Michael Epstein of Road Warrior Entertainment and is currently in post-production. As a filmmaker, he is a recipient of the Panavision New Filmmaker Award, a distinction shared by Paul Thomas Anderson and Steven Soderbergh on their first directing efforts.

Press & Reviews

"A breakthrough  Electro Pop anthem that is poised to become a dance chart topper." - Erick Antoine, Electro WOW

"A commendable debut, Davenport's first club track has been re-ignited by the features on its remix package.  A sonic revival at the hands of Ukrainian newcomer Marat Leon re-imagines the track into a bustling dance floor flame that uses hollow bass lines and filtered stutters with chilling effect. The result is a gripping remix that makes impeccable use of Knowles powerful vocals — and one that is already topping the charts." - Andrew Spada, Dancing Astronaut

"A grandiose EP exclusively for DJs who play EDM, House and Progressive House rhythms. I noticed the delicious vocals from Shanica Knowles stay intact in all the tracks. Nonetheless, each one features different drops, bringing the right energy for the club." - Electro WOW

"This track is made for the deep house night clubs, that are dark and mysterious." - Frankie Restucci, Mix 247 EDM

“My Return is You” is an electro-pop/EDM ballad with a chorus that may get stuck in your head!" - Liz Calvario

"Will have everyone on the dance-floor."- Daily Dose of Bass

"A chilled out track featuring toned down BPM, vocal pop chops, and a ton of good vibes flowing throughout. The lyrics are meaningful and deep." - EDM Sauce

Described as an electro-pop/dance ballad with a chorus that may get stuck in your head, "My Return Address is You" was written for Knowles by Davenport and Leslie Mills, an Emmy-nominated songwriter based in Nashville whose songs have been featured in the soundtracks for nearly a dozen films, including WhiteOleander and What a Girl Wants. -
